What is Satellite Gravimetry?

Satellite gravimetry is a tool or technique to observe or investigate gravity field of the earth. It can be achieved through a comprehensive satellite network in space.
Data received through the network will provide a detailed global picture and physical structure of the earth.

Well, we know that gravity consists no. of field lines same in the manner magnetic and electric field exists though very weak, which do solely depend upon mass of object. Any distortion in field lines in comparison to earlier will indicate mass changes in earth system and it will help in determining any environmental, climatic consequences on earth system.

Through this technique a wide range of purposes could be achieved. Complete water cycle, glacier melting can be monitored. It can help us in determining mass transportation in earth system and ice mass change in polar region.
Well, at the beginning of 2000s a dedicated satellite was launched with the name GRACE mission ( Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment), which was an great achievement in field of science.
Now, the international community is planning to launch a next gen satellite gravimetry soon in future with more precision and advance technique.
